from the Fig! I’ve always tried to be sonically adventurous. Decades ago I would run over cymbals with my car in an attempt to alter their sound. I was always in search of the ultimate trash can lid. I once recorded our guitarist’s track with a cheap microphone through 4 ft of galvanized gutter pipe. It seemed to make sense at the time…fast forward 40 years and I think I’m beginning to hear what great microphones bring to the show. Enter the two new women in my life..Myrtle and Edwina from Ear Trumpet Labs. Not only are they spectacular sounding microphones ..thick, warn, natural, but these girls have curves. Beautiful! I recently used Edwina on a couple of conga tracks and I swear I heard what the skin of my hand sounds like. Guitars, vocals, percussion. I can’t get enough and will certainly be going back for more..
Great performances, great instruments, great microphones. Man, I love this gig.
